3 people: Hi! Hello! How do you do!

Reporter: Nice to see you all! Sit down, please!

    3 people: Thank you!

Reporter: Will you please introduce yourselves?

Grandpa: I’m his grandpa. (points to his grandson)

Grandma: I’m his grandma. (points to his grandson)

Grandson: Of course, I’m their grandson. (points to his grandparents)

Reporter: Oh! Tell us your names!

    Grandpa: My name is David.

    Grandma: I’m Sophia!

    Grandson: I’m Jerry!

Reporter: Why do you have English names?

3 people: We have own reasons!

Grandpa: The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing.

Grandma: China has joined into WTO.

Grandson: We are in 21st Century.

Reporter: I see. But who gave you your English names?

    3 people: Our English teacher!

Reporter: What? Do you have the same English teacher? Who’s she?

Grandpa: She is Lily.[ 小学教学设计网 wwW.XXJXSJ.CN更多 英语 课本剧]

Grandma: She is a good teacher. She is a volunteer in “Bingmasi Community”. She is an excellent teacher. We all like her.

Grandson: We have a special class. The old and the young are in one class. The oldest is 82 and the youngest is only 6 years old.

    Reporter: Really?

Grandpa: Yes. Today I have a video tape here. Do you want to have a look at it?

    Reporter: Sure!

(CHANGE TO ANOTHER SCENE: IN THE CLASSROOM)

Volunteer: Hello! How are you doing today?

3 people: Very well. And you?

Volunteer: I’m OK. May I ask you a question? Why do you study English?

Grandpa: The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing. In 2008, many foreigners will come to Beijing .

And I want to be a volunteer.

Volunteer: Really? How old are you?

Grandpa: I’m 75 years old. But I am very strong. (sing: Shake your arms, shake your legs, let’s do some exercises. You’ll be strong and healthy too.) Look! (do it) I can play football, I can play basketball.(falls down)

Grandma: Take it easy. Have a rest! Miss! China is a member of WTO now. English is just like a bridge between countries. I’m 72, but I can speak English very well. I can say many English tongue twisters. Listen! A big black bug bit the back of a big black bear. The big black bear bit the back of the big black bug.(taking a deep breath)

Grandson: Be careful! Miss! we are pioneers of 21st century. It is very important to study English well. So we should start learning English from childhood.

    Volunteer: Great!

(CHANGE BACK TO THE INTERVIEW ROOM)

Reporter: Oh! It’s a good lesson! Thank you! Grandma, would you mind me asking you some question?

    Grandma: No, please go ahead.

Reporter: You’re 72 years old. Do you remember what you have learnt?

    Grandma: To tell the truth?

    Reporter: Why not?

Grandma: In the beginning, I couldn't remember much, so I matched the English words or sentences to the Chinese sound. For example: for thank you very much, I wrote: (三块肉为你妈吃). But now, I have a walkman. I listen and repreat, listen and repeat, so I can remember a lot.

Reporter: Good idea! Oh, It’s time to say goodbye! But before we go, let’s say a rhyme. (say it together)

Come on boys , come on girls,

    Study English together, please.

    No pains, no gains,

    Little strokes fell great oaks.

    It doesn’t matter, doesn’t matter,

    Failure’s the mother of success.

Live and learn, live and learn,

    Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

See you again, see you again,

See you in Beijing , in 2008.

All: Thanks for watching.(The three guests leave the stage, but the reporter is still on the stage and says: In a few minutes, we are going to have English class together. …… Where are they? Hey, wait for me…….)
