    Contents  Unit 14 ---Zoo Animals (1st period)     
    ⅠObjectives:
    Language knowledge:
    a. Pupils recognize the names of animals . Develop the vocabulary of the zoo animals
    b. Revise and extend the names of countries and places in seven
    continents .Develop the pupils’ general cultural knowledge of
    where animals come from.
    c. Learn to describe animals in different ways.
    Language skill:
    Listening: Recognize the new names of some animals and something about the zoo animals. Identify main ideas.
    Speaking: Use modeled phrases and sentences to communicate with
    teachers and other learners. They can say something about the animals by themselves, including the description, the habits and the places they come from.
    Reading : Identify main ideas from a text with teacher support .They can read the sentences and the words and the dialogue , and try to remember them.
    Writing: Can use the learnt language to express their  own meaning. Learning strategy
    1. To set up the situation to let the  students to say more.
    2. To have fun.
    Affects
     We need to be kind to animals. People love animals and try to protect them.
    Cultural Consciousness
    The different continents of the world make different kinds of animals.

    ⅡKey points:
    Talk about the animals with some adjectives and verbs and the new words about continents.

    ⅢDifficult points:
    Can use what pupils have learnt to describe animals and extend the
    names of countries and places in seven continents.
    ⅣPreparation:
    Powerpoint, tape recorder  and the projector.

    1.Free talk.
    T:What animals do you know? Can you tell me sth. about them?
     
    2. Play the cartoon and extend the pupils’ animal vocabulary.
    1. P Say out the names of some animals they know.
     
    2. Watch the cartoon and tell what they see in it. Answer:
    What animals can you see in the cartoon? Who can tell us more? 
    Presentation& practice
    1. Introduce the new names of the animals.
    2. State the aim: visiting the zoo.(PP)
    3 Lead in the web zoo-Shanghai Zoo.(PP)
    Ask to share with partners: What animal would you like to see first and why?
    4. Ask to think: There are so many different animals in the world. Do you know where they are from?
    5. Introduce the map of the world and the seven continents.(PP)
     
    6. Have the discussion of the particular  animals in these places.
    7.Show some animals pictures and ask where they are from.
     
     
    1.          Learn the words.
    giraffe, (polar) bear, panda, elephant, tiger, snake, lion, tiger, deer.
    2.          know what they are going to learn.
    3.          Tell partners what they would like to see in the zoo and the reason.
    4.          Pupils learn the new
    names of continents: the Arctic, Europe ,Asia ,Africa, Australia , South America, the Antarctic.
     
    5.Group discussion: What particular animals are there in the countries of the continents?
     
    7.Tell where the kangaroo, koala, elephant, puma, jaguar, gorilla, penguin, polar bear from.
     
     
    Development
     1. Let pupils identify the animals in six items. (PP)
    2. Tell them to choose and talk about their favourite animals .
    3.Sum up.
    Show the web-map about how to describe animals in different ways.
    4.Make animal exhibition for the zoo. Help to write their own introduction.
    1. Think and write down the animals they know.
    2. Pair work.
    3 Learn to tell more about about animals. (characteristic, habits, places they live, etc)
     
    4.Try to write their own introduction .
